Cost should be one of the simplest parts of starting therapy.

Insurance

Do you take insurance?

No. I’m private pay only, which keeps decisions about your care between you and me rather than an insurance company.

Some plans reimburse part of the cost of seeing an out-of-network counselor. If you want to try, call the number on your card and ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

  1. 1
Check your benefits, if you want to. Ask your insurer about out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage.
  2. 2
Pay at the session. $150 individual, $175 couples or family.
  3. 3
Tell me if cost is a problem. I work with people on the fee as needed.

Sliding scale

If the fee is what’s stopping you, say so on the first call. I work with people on the fee as needed.

Your right to a Good Faith Estimate

Under the No Surprises Act, if you don’t have insurance or aren’t using it, you have the right to a written estimate of what your care is expected to cost before it begins. You receive yours when you schedule your first appointment, and again any time your fee changes. Read the full notice.

FAQ

Money questions, answered plainly.

How much does a session cost?

$150 for a 50-minute individual session; $175 for couples and family sessions, in person or online.

Do you take insurance?

No. I’m private pay only, so you pay at the time of the session.

What is a superbill and how do I get reimbursed?

A superbill is an itemized receipt with the codes your insurer needs (provider details, date, service code, diagnosis, amount paid). You submit it to your insurance company as an out-of-network claim, and if your plan has out-of-network mental health benefits, they reimburse you a portion — commonly after a deductible. Ask me if you’d like one.

How do I check my out-of-network benefits?

Call the member-services number on your insurance card and ask: “What are my out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health, CPT code 90834, and what is my out-of-network deductible?” That one question gives you your real cost.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

If the fee is a barrier, tell me. I work with people on the fee as needed.

What is a Good Faith Estimate and when will I get one?

Under the federal No Surprises Act you have the right to a written estimate of expected charges before care begins. You get yours when you schedule your first appointment. Your right to a Good Faith Estimate.
