Services

Counseling services in Ormond Beach.

Nine things I work on with adults, couples and families, in person in Ormond Beach and online across Florida. Individual sessions are $150; couples and family sessions are $175.

01

Anxiety

Calmer ways to handle what keeps you up at night.

I use CBT, DBT and mindfulness to help you see what feeds the worry and to build healthy coping skills that hold up outside the office. The goal is not to never feel anxious. It is to stop letting anxiety run your day.

This might be you if

  • Adults whose worry has started to run their day
  • People who overthink everything and sleep badly because of it
  • Anyone who wants practical tools, not just a place to talk

02

Depression

When getting through the day is the whole job.

Depression shrinks your world. We work on small, concrete changes and healthier coping skills first, then on the thinking patterns that keep you stuck. You get room to talk it through without judgment.

This might be you if

  • Adults who feel flat, heavy or stuck
  • People who have lost interest in things they used to enjoy
  • Anyone who keeps telling themselves they should be able to handle this

Couples & relationships

Communication, resentment, and letting go of the past.

Most couples come to me because communication has broken down and resentment has built up. We work on communication skills for healthy conflict resolution, on letting go of old hurts, and on nurturing the relationship you want to keep. It works best when both of you are willing to do the work.

This might be you if

  • Couples having the same argument over and over
  • Partners carrying resentment they can’t seem to put down
  • Couples who want to stay together and are ready to work at it

Families

For families who love each other and can’t seem to talk.

Family sessions put everyone in the same room with someone who isn’t on a side. We work on the argument underneath the argument, on the resentments that have built up, and on the one change that would make home easier to live in. I started in foster care nearly 30 years ago, which is where I learned that the family, not just the person in the chair, is often the client.

This might be you if

  • Families where every dinner goes quiet or goes wrong
  • Parents and adult children who only talk when something’s broken
  • Families where one person’s drinking, grief or illness runs the whole house
  • Two households becoming one, and finding it harder than anyone expected

05

Substance use

Recovery and relapse prevention.

I spent years working in substance-abuse treatment centers, and that work shaped how I practice. Sessions focus on relapse prevention: understanding your triggers, planning for the hard days, and building a life that supports staying sober. I’ll be supportive, and I’ll be honest with you.

This might be you if

  • Adults whose drinking or drug use has stopped being casual
  • People in recovery who want support staying there
  • Anyone who has relapsed and wants to get back on track

06

Grief

Room to grieve, and ways to keep going.

Grief doesn’t follow a schedule. We use the stages of grief as a map, not a timetable, and pair them with healthy ways to cope so you can carry the loss and still live your life.

This might be you if

  • Anyone grieving the death of someone close
  • People whose grief feels stuck or overwhelming
  • Adults grieving other losses: a marriage, a job, a version of their life

07

Life transitions

When the ground shifts under you.

Divorce, a move, retirement, a new baby, an empty nest. Big changes are where old ways of coping stop working. We focus on healthy coping and a clear next step, so the change doesn’t run you over.

This might be you if

  • Adults in the middle of a major life change
  • People who feel unsettled and can’t name why
  • Anyone starting over

08

Stress & burnout

For running on empty.

When life has become unmanageable, more effort rarely fixes it. We look at what is draining you and what refills you, and build healthier coping skills so you’re not just getting through the week.

This might be you if

  • Adults stretched thin by work, family or caregiving
  • People who are exhausted and short-tempered and don’t like it
  • Anyone who feels like they’re barely holding on

09

Adult ADHD

Practical tools for a busy mind.

For adults with ADHD, we focus on healthy coping strategies for focus, organization and the frustration that comes with them. I don’t prescribe medication; if you’re wondering whether it’s ADHD, we can talk about where to get a full evaluation.

This might be you if

  • Adults who have been diagnosed with ADHD
  • People who struggle with focus, follow-through and overwhelm
  • Anyone tired of being told to just try harder

Also within scope

I also see families, run groups, and offer consultation for other clinicians. Ask.

What I don’t do

I don’t work with autism, and I don’t take DCF cases or cases with court involvement. I don’t do psychological testing or prescribe medication, and I see adults 18 and up. If that’s what you need, I’ll help you find the right person.

Ready when you are.

A short call to see whether we’re a good fit. Call, text or email, whichever is easiest.
